Every Piece Spends Time in Our Workshop
We think about what folks need. We look for practical pieces, especially storage type furniture like bookcases, dressers, trunks & cabinets; pieces with drawers and shelves. We also look for small to moderate sized tables, student desks, taller than wide pieces, pieces that fit in smaller spaces plus furniture that's easier to move.
We select wood furniture with quality craftsmanship, but may need upgrading. Most folks don't have time or the tools to rescue a older wood piece from an early landfill grave. We fulfill our Mission Statement to reduce landfill by fixing and upgrading what is "already here". We also buy new department store floor models, returns & overstock. Much of the new furniture does not hold up over time, so we make it better.
Whether we select something new or something used, everything spends time in our work shop first. We clean & inspect. We reinforce drawer bottoms and make sure they move smooth. We add extra internal wood support. We refinish surfaces. We add wood backing and often wood feet.
We love solid wood vintage & antique furniture: mahogany, oak, walnut, maple, teak etc. Someday we think these pieces will be in a wood museum. We know how rare they will become. We fix & upgrade furniture. We collect & use recycled wood. We keep our prices as low as possible. Its the right thing to do...for you and for the Earth.
